Actually it's one of my favorite Promos from Sting. Sting had dogs set on him by the Steiners at a PPV earlier in the year and this was a great promo to announce the next match and the feuds continuance.

Maybe corny...but also a pretty good 40-second pre-match promo.

So do not confuse, gimmick, popularity and good catchphrases with mic work. Its 2 different things. Sometimes you might have the worst speaker on the mic that whatever he says, he is so popular, that the fans will dig him.

Austin rised to stardom, but his mic skills werent great. He wasnt as fluent on the mic as Sting was. The way he talked etc. It wasnt just because of his gimmick and him talking like a redneck. Austin simply wasnt as fluent on the mic as Sting. If you watch 10 promos from Austin you will notice he doesnt have the best choice of words, and some times he just does some minor mistakes while speaking. He was above the normal workers on the mic, but not as fluent as flair or sting.

Agreed - The Rock talked his way into people's living rooms - for almost a year Sting's gimmick was silent ... and even before and after that year he was renowned for his matches and psychology and not his promos...

Sting was good on the mic but saying he was better than Austin...!?!? Honestly? I don't even think Sting's mama would agree with that...

while i won't deny sting is GREAT in ring (better than the rock, no questions about it) the mic skills of the rock are rivaled by very few. the rock, i think, has better mic skills. no one can hold the attention of an entire arena longer than the rock, he entertained wrestling fans without ever stepping foot into the ring

This comic routine was not a "FAIL" it made perfect sense

he was never overated.... and his mic skills are good... i dont know why people who didnt follow ones career, think they know all about him because theyve seen some clips on tube

The Rock is a legend on the mic, but that doesn't mean he's as good as Sting, The Rock comes close, damn close, but sting still had a better voice for the mic, and sting worked the crowd better, despite how The Rock got the crowd involved, Sting captivated them, so shutup when you don't know what you're talking about.
